I just came across the following article at the Nokia forum:

Maybe that will be the solution for using the "loadable dictionaries" on the mass-market Nokia S40 devices (the S40 devices support only small Jar file sizes and thus currently only can run small dictionaries).
I will look at that more closely ... when I have more time.
